Jesuit Mission in Myamnar

The good memories left by the Maryland Jesuits, who were in charge of the Major Seminaries in Yangon, led some present-day Bishops to request the Society’s return to the country. Myanmar has a population of 42 million, 1% of which are Catholics with twelve dioceses.

We have a novitiate and a language institute in Taunggyi and a candidate house in Yangon.

On January 25, 2006, Fr. Paul Pollock, SJ (TAI),was appointed by Father General as the Major Superior of Myanmar, in addition to his present responsibility as Major Superior of Thailand.
