Jesuit Mission in Cambodia

As of September 8, 1994, the work initiated by Jesuit Refugee Service in Cambodia was entrusted to the care of all the Jesuits of East Asia and Oceania, thru the JCEAO. On May 25, 2006, Father General decided that the Cambodia Mission Territory be placed under the jurisdiction of the Korean Province. Fr. Gabriel Je Byong-young, SJ (KOR) is the Delegate of the Korean Provincial for Cambodia beginning March 19, 2007.

Sr. Denise Coghlan, RSM serves as Director of Jesuit Service Cambodia. Fr. Kike Figaredo, SJ (CAS) was appointed Prefect Apostolic of the Diocese of Battambang last July 2, 2000.

The work of Jesuit Service includes technical teaching and services for disabled people, rural development outreach and education, both formal and non formal.

The Jesuit Mission is also engaged extensively in pastoral care, human development and in higher education.
