Independent Mission of East Timor

The Society has a centuries-long involvement in East Timor. On May 20, 2002, East Timor became an independent country. Prior to this independence, a new East Timor Region was formed, detaching it from Indonesian Province and placing it under the care of the Jesuit Conference of East Asia and Oceania.
